Description
- Location: Grey Lynn, Auckland
- Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Number of Positions: 1
- Days of Work: Monday to Sunday (on a rotating roster)
- Hours per Week: Minimum of 30 hours
- Hourly Rate: from $29.00 to $31.00 depending on experience and skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily café operations to ensure efficient and high-quality service.
- Lead, train, and motivate front-of-house staff to deliver a consistently positive customer experience.
- Manage staff rosters, stock control, and supplier relationships.
- Order, monitor, and maintain inventory, ensuring stock levels meet operational needs.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, budgets, and financial transactions.
- Manage budgets, operational costs, and financial reporting for the café.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, food hygiene, and alcohol licensing regulations.
- Support the business owner in implementing operational improvements and strategic initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate special events or functions as required.
- Oversee cash handling and ensure accurate daily reconciliations.
- Handle customer feedback and maintain high levels of satisfaction and service quality.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming café environment.
- Assist front-of-house staff with reservations, greeting guests, and taking orders when needed.
- Conduct staff performance reviews and, where necessary, disciplinary actions.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on recruitment, trails, training, and team development.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working either in cafés, restaurants, or bars, including at least 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., Supervisor, Duty Manager, or Café/Restaurant Manager).
- Hold a current LCQ (License Controller Qualification) and Manager’s Certificate demonstrating knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and responsible service of alcohol.
- Barista skills and confidence in preparing and serving specialty coffee will be a strong advantage, not a must.
- Wine knowledge will be a great advantage, not a must.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and evening shifts.
- Excellent time management, organisation, and leadership skills.
- A genuine passion for hospitality, with a strong focus on team development and customer service.
- Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
