Description

Freedom Boat Club New Zealand is growing, and we’re looking for a capable, practical, and customer-focused person to help run the day-to-day operation of our club.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on marine operations, boat presentation, dock staff coordination, member experience, and fleet readiness. You’ll be responsible for helping make sure our boats are clean, fuelled, safe, ready to go, and delivered to members at the high standard expected from Freedom Boat Club.

You’ll also support the sales and membership side of the business, helping prospective members understand the club, assisting with onboarding, and making sure members feel confident, welcomed, and supported.

About the role:

As Operations & Sales Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in the smooth running of Freedom Boat Club’s marina operations. You’ll help lead the dock team, coordinate boat check-ins and check-outs, oversee vessel preparation, and make sure maintenance issues, safety concerns, and operational tasks are followed up properly.

The position also includes member training, New Member Orientation, customer support, and some sales activity, including responding to enquiries, conducting tours, and helping manage leads through our CRM. The original role description includes sales, member support, operational, compliance, and fleet responsibilities, with daily marina operations, vessel readiness, training, CRM use, and weekend rostered coverage all forming part of the role.

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating daily dock and marina operations
  • Overseeing boat check-in, check-out, cleaning, refuelling, and presentation
  • Helping run and support dock staff to ensure boats are ready on time
  • Monitoring fleet condition and reporting maintenance, incidents, or safety concerns
  • Coordinating with service providers for repairs and scheduled maintenance
  • Supporting boat movements, launching, trailering, and operational logistics
  • Delivering New Member Orientation and practical member training
  • Supporting members with reservations, trip planning, and general enquiries
  • Responding to sales enquiries and helping convert prospective members
  • Conducting membership tours, demonstrations, and presentations
  • Maintaining accurate records in HubSpot and operational systems
  • Supporting compliance with internal safety standards and Maritime New Zealand requirements

About you You’ll suit this role if you’re practical, reliable, well-organised, and comfortable taking ownership. You don’t need to be a marine technician, but you do need to care about boats being presented properly, systems being followed, and customers having a great experience.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong boating knowledge or a willingness to complete training
  • Experience working around boats, marinas, tourism, hospitality, sales, or customer service
  • Confidence leading or coordinating a small team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
  • Confidence using technology, including email, scheduling systems, and CRM tools
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • Availability to work weekends and rostered hours as required

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who can take pride in the operation. The right person will make sure the dock runs smoothly, boats are prepared to a high standard, members are looked after, and the team knows what needs to be done.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys boating, likes being active and hands-on, and wants to be part of a fast-growing marine lifestyle business.
