Residential Buildings Services Ltd provides a suite of services to building companies throughout New Zealand as well as other clients in associated trades, including accounting, health and safety, human resources and estimation.  We pride ourselves on delivering timely and accurate information to our clients.

We are now seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations and commercial performance of our business. This is a leadership role responsible for driving strategy, improving profitability, strengthening customer relationships, and building a high‑performing team.

Reporting to the Company Director, you will translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, ensure disciplined financial and operational management, and identify opportunities to grow and strengthen the business.

About the Role

As General Manager, you will work closely with Managers and key stakeholders to ensure the business delivers consistent results while continuing to evolve and improve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of business strategies, including growth priorities and competitive positioning
  • Lead initiatives to improve profitability, customer experience, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee delivery of financial and operational targets, with strong focus on margins, cost control, and job costing discipline
  • Review and report on business performance, providing insights and recommendations to the Company Director
  • Support major client engagements, proposals, and business development activities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners

About You

You’ll need to be a commercially astute leader who enjoys being close to the business and driving practical improvements. You'll combine strategic thinking with hands‑on leadership and will be comfortable leading through change.

You will bring:

  • 6–10 years’ experience in senior operational or commercial management roles
  • Proven experience leading teams or business units in a relevant industry
  • Strong financial capability, including budgeting, forecasting, and margin management
  • Demonstrated success improving business performance through practical leadership
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
