Description
We’re looking for an experienced and capable Duty Manager to join our hospitality leadership team. With over 10,500 members, The Papanui is a busy, dynamic environment, and this role suits someone confident leading bar and gaming operations while ensuring compliance, great service, and smooth day-to-day running of the club. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll be leading from the floor, supporting staff, and setting the tone for an enjoyable experience for both customers and the team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Taking overall responsibility for the club during your shift
- Supervising bar and gaming operations to ensure high service standards
- Leading, supporting, and directing staff in a fast-paced and multi challenging environment
- Ensuring compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act and host responsibility requirements
- Overseeing gaming operations and harm minimisation procedures
- Handling cash, EFTPOS, and end-of-shift reconciliations
- Managing customer queries and resolving issues confidently and professionally
- Opening and closing the venue as required
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for members and guests
What we’re looking for:
- Current Duty Manager’s Certificate
- Current Gaming Harm Minimisation Certificate
- Proven experience in bar and gaming environments
- Able-bodied and comfortable working in a physically, busy, hands-on role
- Enthusiastic about the service industry with a genuine passion for hospitality
- Confident in delivering an enjoyable overall experience for both customers and staff
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
