Cafe Manager

The Raspberry Cafe, a well-loved local establishment in Tai Tapu, Canterbury, is seeking an experienced and passionate Cafe Manager to lead our team and oversee the day-to-day and strategic operations of the cafe.

This full-time role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated hospitality professional to make their mark in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of café operations including staff management, inventory control, financial performance, and compliance with Health & Safety and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of baristas, front-of-house, and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional customer service
• Develop and implement strategies to drive sales, improve efficiency, and strengthen the café’s reputation within the local community
• Manage budgets, analyse financial reports, and make informed decisions to maximise profitability
• Foster a positive and supportive team culture through coaching and staff development
• Recruit, train, and manage front-of-house and kitchen staff
• Monitor industry trends and customer preferences to maintain a competitive edge
• Engage with customers, gather feedback, and continually improve the dining experience
• Assist with menu planning in consultation with the chefs

Candidate Requirements:

• Honest, reliable, and punctual
• Able to work weekends and rostered shifts
• Drug-free with a clean criminal history
• Well-presented, clean, and tidy
• Reliable transport and ability to commute, as the business operates 7 days a week

Experience / Qualifications:

• Relevant Level 5 Certificate or Diploma, or
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant hospitality management experience

Hours & Position:

• Full-time, permanent role
• Minimum 30 hours per week

Pay Rate:

• $25 – $28 per hour (depending on experience)
