About the Role As Motel Manager, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the motel, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient operations, and high standards across all areas of the business.
Hours: 40 hours per week (minimum 30 hours guaranteed) Pay Rate: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour (depending on experience) Positions Available: 1
Key Responsibilities As a Motel Manager your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating and overseeing reception and reservations
- Supervising staff to ensure high-quality customer service
- Managing room service requests and directing housekeeping staff, including quality checks
- Overseeing motel security and supervising security arrangements
- Ensuring cleanliness and a high standard of general appearance throughout the property
- Coordinating building repairs and maintenance, including lighting, power, heating, air conditioning, flooring, furniture, plumbing, gardening, and window cleaning
- Monitoring customer satisfaction through emails and online booking platforms
- Handling customer complaints and concerns escalated beyond staff level
- Ensuring tourism brochures are readily available to guests
- Providing travel information and assisting with tour and transport arrangements when requested
- Collecting and processing advance payments and recording income
- Reviewing sales, activity, and performance reports to assess productivity and achieve business goals
- Determining room rates and pricing for services offered
- Overseeing purchasing activities
- Interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, and managing staff
- Assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed to a high standard
- Ensuring compliance with government health, occupational safety, and licensing regulations
- Performing other reasonable duties as required by the employer
About You: To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An NZQF Level 4 or higher qualification in business, management, or hospitality OR at least two years of relevant work experience
- Strong business management and administrative skills
- Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and marketing skills
- A team-oriented approach with the ability to work flexibly, including weekends and overtime when required
- A high standard of work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
- The ability to work independently and responsibly
- A clean police record
Eligibility
- Applicants must be willing to work in Pahia/Northland on a long-term basis
- Preference will be given to applicants with NZ citizenship or residency and relevant experience and/or qualifications
- Applicants who are not NZ citizens or residents must hold an appropriate work visa
