Location: Te Wera Valley, 37 km east of Stratford (Forgotten World Highway) Position: Full-time Campground Manager
Te Wera Valley Lodge Campground is seeking a reliable and motivated Campground Manager (live in position) to join our team in a stunning rural setting. This role is ideal for someone/a family who enjoys the outdoors, values a rural lifestyle, and likes variety—no two days are the same!
Background: The Te Wera Valley Lodge is a place of accommodation buildings, cookhouse, hall and ablution blocks administered by the Te Wera Outdoor Recreational Trust Incorporated Society. (The Trust) The Trustees are all volunteers and the site and some buildings are leased off the Department of Conservation. Te Wera Valley Lodge is set in a rural setting 37 kilometres on the Forgotten World Highway, Highway 43 on the way to Taumaranui. The Trust was formed in 1980 by a group of locals who had a vision to develop the Te Wera Forestry Camp as a camp for the Educational and Recreational Sector. The Trust’s main objective as a result of this is to “operate a facility to benefit the Youth and Families in the Education and Recreational Sector of the wider Stratford District, Taranaki and wider community”.
About the Role As Campground Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and upkeep of the campground, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for guests. Key Responsibilities ● Daily management of campground operations ● General maintenance and basic repairs ● Grounds keeping and facility upkeep ● Guest check-ins and customer service ● Monitoring campground safety and cleanliness
What We’re Looking For ● Enjoys outdoor and hands-on work ● Comfortable with rural living and remote locations ● Has basic computer skills including email, Microsoft Word and Excel ● Self-motivated and able to work independently ● Friendly and customer-focused attitude ● Full, current driver’s license ● Must be legally able to work in New Zealand ● Pass NZ Police check
