About the Role
Care Property Stays manages a large portfolio of short-term rental properties across Christchurch. We're looking for a hands-on, self-motivated Grounds & Maintenance Worker to join our team — someone who takes genuine pride in their work, solves problems as they arise, and is excited about being part of a growing business.
This is a varied, outdoor-focused role where you will be responsible for maintaining the gardens and outdoor spaces across a large portfolio of properties in Christchurch, ensuring all properties are presented to a high standard for guests year-round.
- Grounds & Garden Maintenance (Primary Focus) You will be responsible for maintaining gardens and outdoor areas across approximately 25+ properties, with tasks scheduled weekly through our in-house software.
Lawn Mowing
- Mow lawns across the portfolio on a fortnightly cycle during summer and monthly during winter
- Maintain consistent cut height and clean, tidy edges
- Adapt workload seasonally, with increased frequency during spring and summer
General Grounds Work
- Remove weeds from gardens, paths, and paved areas
- Clean cobwebs from outdoor areas, fences, pergolas, and entry points
- Wash exterior glass and sliding door panels where required
- Trim and maintain hedges and garden boundaries
- Apply targeted spraying for weed or pest control (training provided)
- Complete general outdoor tidy-ups following guest checkouts or weather events
- Collect and remove rubbish or debris from yards and common areas
- Place out and retrieve rubbish bins as scheduled
Task & Schedule Management
- Receive and complete weekly tasks via in-house rostering software
- Mark jobs as complete and flag any property issues
- Communicate proactively with management regarding property concerns or additional work required
- Ad Hoc Maintenance and Warehouse Support
- As part of the wider operations team, you will assist with general property upkeep tasks as needed.
- Support the maintenance coordination team with minor ad hoc tasks
- Assist the cleaning coordination team with property-related requests when required
- Respond promptly to urgent issues logged through the system
- Communicate clearly with the team regarding progress and any on-site findings
What We're Looking For

- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors year-round
- Reliable, punctual, and takes pride in quality of work
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for task management
- Full NZ driver’s licence
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or gardening preferred but not essential
- Basic knowledge of hedge trimming and garden care advantageous
- Strong team player with good communication skills
