Cafe Team Leader - Columbus Café - Hornby Mitre 10 MEGA

About the Role:

As team leader, you'll play a key part in ensuring smooth café operations while maintaining Columbus Coffee's high standards of service, food, and beverage quality. You'll support and motivate the team, deliver outstanding customer experiences, and bring your passion for coffee to everything you do.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Café Manager with daily operations and team leadership
• Supervise, coach, and motivate front-of-house and back-of-house team members
• Step into the Café Manager role during periods of leave or absence
• Deliver exceptional customer service and professionally handle feedback or complaints
• Assist with staff training, rostering, and performance support
• Open and close the café, including cash handling and reconciliation
• Support inventory control, ordering, and stock management
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and health & safety compliance
• Uphold Columbus Coffee brand standards, policies, and procedures
• Contribute to promotions, events, and team development initiatives

What We're Looking For:

• A passion for hospitality and a proactive, collaborative mindset
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar leadership role
• Experience working in a fast-paced cafe as a Barista
• Have pretty slick cafe and customer service skills
• Be keen and willing to learn our way of making coffee
• Love talking to customers about anything and everything
• Come in every day with an awesome vibe and ready to work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confident working as part of a close-knit, supportive team
• Must have rights to work in New Zealand

We're looking for a team member who is happy to work approximately 24 hours per week.  Days are TBC but will include Sunday and Monday.
