Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day on-site operations of visitor accommodation and assist with basic operational continuity when the Accommodation Manager is off-site.
- Provide front desk reception and guest services, including handling enquiries, coordinating check-ins and check-outs, and responding to guest requests.
- Independently manage online booking platforms, including listings, pricing, availability, and reservation administration.
- Conduct routine property inspections of accommodation units, common areas, and outdoor spaces to identify and report operational or safety issues.
- Assist with basic property upkeep and coordination of minor maintenance tasks, including lighting, appliances, door locks, bathrooms, furniture, and outdoor areas.
- Coordinate and liaise with contractors for repairs or urgent maintenance when required, and follow up on progress.
- Assist in coordinating the cleaning of the gardens, outdoor areas and guest rooms to ensure that the room status meets the check-in standards on time.
- Assist with online promotion, including social media updates and maintaining platform listings.
- Assist with the implementation and record-keeping of New Zealand Health & Safety requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Ability to independently manage on-site visitor accommodation operations and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Minimum of six months of recent experience in visitor accommodation-related roles.
- Practical on-site maintenance skills, including basic appliance and door lock repairs, routine furniture and outdoor facility checks, and minor repairs.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out on-site maintenance work.
- Strong ability to identify and resolve on-site issues, and communicate effectively with contractors.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and experienced with at least one online booking or reservation system.
- Good written and spoken English, with the ability to independently handle guest inquiries and matters.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team, and manage multiple responsibilities during peak periods.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Hold a relevant NZQF Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.
- Knowledge of New Zealand Health & Safety requirements in the hospitality or visitor accommodation sector.
- The work location is based in Tekapo and the surrounding areas. Applicants must arrange their own accommodation and be available for long-term employment.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) is preferred, however, not essential.
The successful applicant may have to provide references to demonstrate their capability. The guaranteed working hours are 30 hours per week. The pay is $25-$30 per hour. You also need to work and travel within Mackenzie and Canterbury. These jobs may be subject to a criminal record check and an alcohol/drug test.
