Are you an experienced ice hockey player, figure skater or enthusiastic about winter sports and excel in customer service? Do you thrive in a team environment while ensuring safety and fun for all? We are looking for fit, energetic and responsible individuals to work in our activities team for the 2026 New Zealand Winter Season.

What We Offer:

-An energetic and positive work environment where customer service, teamwork, professionalism, and punctuality are key. -Exciting roles including skate hire management, maintaining safety on our ice rink, and overseeing the exhilaration at our snow tube & snow play park. -A fixed-term position from April to September 2026, perfect for those who love a small alpine tourist town and outdoor adventures.

Key Duties:

-Handing out ice skates, helmets and assisting people correctly fit equipment as needed. -Customer service, ticketing and selling rink associated retail and merchandise items. -Reviewing, maintaining and sharpening Ice Skates with manual and automated ice sharpening machines. (training provided). -Teaching ice skating to large school groups and private lessons (if experienced in ice skating). -Interacting with customers and enhancing the customers experience in our Tube Park. Physical role in working on the slope to move mats around for safety and engaging around the park with our customers. -General support to other departments.

This role offers a great opportunity to work in a multifaceted tourism attraction in the magnificent alpine region of The Mackenzie, South Canterbury. We are home to The Mackenzie Ice Hockey Club, who love to have good hockey players play, coach and get involved with the club. There are three ski areas within 1.5 hours (two within 35 minutes drive), lakes, mountains, walking and biking trails and many other outdoor recreational opportunities.

We Need You To Be:

-Positively professional towards customers and team members. -Passionate about engaging with people. -Self-motivated, responsible, and action-oriented. -Experienced in ice skating is extremely desirable. -A collaborative team player.

Requirements:

Applicants must possess a current work visa. Commitment to the full winter season (until mid-September) is essential.
