Ice Hockey Coach and Ice Rink Attendant at Tekapo Springs

Tekapo Springs Ice Rink is looking for a keen, fit, experienced and organised individual to work as an Ice Rink attendant AND senior coach for the Mackenzie Ice Hockey Club for the 2026 New Zealand Winter Season (Mid April - Early Sept)

This role comprises of two parts:

1.Ice Hockey Coach

Coaching Ice Hockey to all ages and levels for a growing club of approximately 90 members. This role would include up to 4 hours of coaching per week, plus some admin hours to plan and organises ice hockey sessions.

Key duties include: -Coaching beginners, U12, U15, U18, and seniors of varying abilities. -Overseeing and training other coaches within the club. -Establishing a coaching structure for the club.

2.Ice Rink Attendant

This role would make up the majority of the positions weekly working hours and be a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Key duties include: -Providing excellent customer service. -Teaching large school and private group lessons, from beginner level and higher -Handing out ice skates, helmets and assisting people correctly fit equipment as needed. -Selling rink associated retail and merchandise. -General Ice Rink maintenance.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a multi-faceted tourism attractions and to help grow and develop our local ice hockey club. Lake Tekapo is located in the southern alps of New Zealand's southern island and offers many outdoor recreational opportunities. We have three ski areas close by and all Tekapo Springs staff receive a season ski pass to Roundhill ski area as part of their work package. Compensation is based on experience.
