Who We Are
Toad Hall is an award-winning café located in Motueka,it has become an icon in the Nelson/Tasman region as the place to stop for locals and visitors. Our store is a foodie’s paradise offering a range of fresh produce, local artisan food products, organic foods and giftware, and is well known for great coffee. The café and bar are both indoors and outdoors, set amongst mature trees and boast an extensive menu, with the salad ingredients and garnishes grown onsite in our organic market garden; the beer and wine served is brewed and grown locally around the Nelson region. The Waterfront Restaurant is our new venture, set at the stunning Kaiteriteri beach. This is a unique venue to work, with all-day deli service and breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
About the role:
- Full-time or part-time permanent work with guaranteed hours available
- Your ordinary hours of work will be between 7 am to 11 pm rostered over 7 days a week, or at times agreed between us to meet the needs of the business up to a maximum of 50 hours per week.
- The barista will have the skills and knowledge to make a variety of hot and cold beverages. They will ensure all customers receive great service and that their ordered beverage is of exceptional quality. Wait Staff - will have experience in table service, customer relations, and be able to operate POS systems
- All applicants will be expected to greet the customers as they walk into the premises, take orders, and answer any questions on the ingredients or dietary requirements the customer may have regarding their beverage order.
- The barista will have previous knowledge and an understanding of the workings of a commercial coffee machine and be able to consistently prepare hot or cold beverages at a fast pace, ensuring all orders are completed accurately and as per the customer’s request.
- They will always maintain a clean workspace .
- They will be expected to know how to use the POS efficiently and can process payments by card or by cash accurately. They will liaise with their Front of House Manager any feedback from customers or new beverage items they may wish to try out.
- They will also notify the person in charge of ordering when stock levels are getting low so products can be re-ordered.
- They will be flexible in their work area and be able to take orders via table service should it be required.
- They will help train any new staff members who will be serving customers or using the equipment.
- At the end of every shift, the staff will be required to clean and maintain their service area , ready for the start of the next shift.
Detailed tasks include:
- Greeting customers, taking orders, and answering any questions regarding the customer's ordered beverage.
- Knowledge of how a commercial coffee machine operates..
- Processing payments either by card or cash on the POS.
- Keeping a well-stocked, clean, and sterile working environment.
- Training new staff members on how to use the coffee machine.
- Liaising with the Front of House Manager and the person in charge of ordering.
- End of shift cleaning of coffee machine and equipment as per our health and safety standards, ready for the next shift.
Minimum Requirements ● A proven oral and written very good command of the English language is required. ● The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 1 year of previous work experience in a café environment. ● No formal qualification is required – only proven previous experience in the hospitality industry.
Must have residency in NZ, We will not consider people that are not currently in NZ
Bonus points
- Experience and knowledge of team and roster management in hospitality or retail.
