Tō kamupene hou | Your new company

A well-established national commercial cleaning organisation is seeking a Training Manager with deep, hands-on industry experience to lead training delivery across its workforce and franchise network.

This role is ideal for someone who comes from the commercial cleaning industry, either from a formal training background or from an operational role where coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training have been a core part of your work - and who is now looking to step into a specialist training leadership role.

Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

Reporting into HR and Operations leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality training across cleaning operations, aligned with NZQA/Careerforce standards and safety requirements. You'll spend time both in the field and in programme design, working directly with cleaners, supervisors, and franchise partners to lift capability, consistency, and compliance.

Regular travel across Auckland and the Upper North Island is required, as well as occasional out of hours work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on operational training in commercial cleaning methods, equipment use, chemicals, and safety
  • Design and maintain structured training programmes aligned to NZQA/Careerforce Level 2 & 3
  • Lead inductions, on-site training, shadow training, refresher sessions, and assessment-based training
  • Support and develop supervisors and franchisees who are responsible for training their own teams
  • Translate "how work really happens" on sites into practical, fit-for-purpose training materials
  • Conduct training needs and gap analyses across sites and regions
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness using KPIs, dashboards, and feedback
  • Build internal training capability through Train-the-Trainer initiatives
  • Maintain training records, learning platforms, and external training partnerships
  • Support operational health & safety training and compliance requirements
  • Provide regular training performance reporting to leadership.

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

You are a commercial cleaning expert first, credibility on the tools and on-site matters in this role. You may come from either a commercial cleaning training role, or an operational commercial cleaning role where you have been heavily involved in training, coaching, and upskilling teams.

You will ideally bring:

  • Minimum NZQA Level 3 (Careerforce) or equivalent industry qualification
  • Strong commercial cleaning experience across large or multi-site environments
  • Practical knowledge of cleaning techniques, machinery, chemicals and H&S requirements
  • Experience training staff on the job and explaining standards clearly and practically
  • Familiarity with NZQA/Careerforce frameworks
  • Confidence engaging with frontline staff, franchisees, and senior stakeholders
  • Strong organisation, follow-through, and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable using systems, dashboards and basic reporting tools

Formal training qualifications are valuable, but strong operational credibility and the ability to teach others effectively are essential!

Ngā hua ka whiwhi i a koe | What you'll get in return

  • Step off the tools while staying close to operations
  • Use your industry experience to shape how training is done nationally
  • High autonomy with real influence on quality, safety, and performance
  • Stable organisation with established systems and growth focus
