About the Role – Mō te Tūranga

As Qestral continues to grow, we’re bringing operational IT ownership in-house. Our Microsoft environment and core systems are currently supported by external providers, and we’re now seeking a full-time Systems Administrator to take internal ownership of our Microsoft ecosystem, devices, and SaaS platforms.

This role is focused on clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement. You won’t replace external specialists - instead, you’ll own the environment end-to-end, strengthening governance and security while coordinating escalation when deeper technical expertise is required. Operating at the intersection of technology, risk, and people, you’ll ensure our systems are well governed, secure, and aligned with the needs of the business. There is an immediate start available for this role.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will: · Own the day-to-day operation of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, including identity, access, and licensing · Maintain governance across Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange · Manage endpoints and devices using Intune (or equivalent) · Oversee cyber security controls, monitoring, and remediation coordination · Manage access and permissions across business SaaS platforms · Reduce shadow IT and improve visibility across the software stack · Act as the internal point of accountability for external IT and security providers · Coordinate incident escalation, remediation, and project engagement · Maintain clear documentation, standards, and governance artefacts · Support AI readiness through strong identity, device, and data governance · Ensure responsible data handling and information protection practices

About You – Ngā Kōrero Mōu

You thrive on ownership and follow-through. You bring strong operational IT capability and the judgement to know when to act directly and when to escalate.

You’re comfortable working in a hybrid in-house / outsourced model, and you care deeply about doing things properly - from governance and security through to user experience and risk management.

You’ll likely bring: · Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint, and security tooling · Experience operating environments supported by external providers · A strong understanding of governance, access control, and risk management · The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively · Clear, professional communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders · A calm, practical approach when dealing with incidents or risk
