Description

Systems & Data Team Manager

At Seeka, our systems and data sit at the heart of how we operate — from orchard to customer. We're looking for a Systems & Data Team Manager to lead our BAU software systems support, data, and reporting capability while partnering closely with the business to ensure technology genuinely works for our people.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys building capable teams, keeping core platforms running smoothly, and translating business needs into practical, high-value systems and data solutions.

About the Role

Reporting into the Chief Information Officer, you'll be responsible for the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of Seeka's BAU Software systems, data platforms, reporting, and end-user support services.

The role blends team leadership (approx. 70%) with business analysis and solution shaping (approx. 30%), making it ideal for a leader who enjoys being close to both delivery and decision-making.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the Systems & Data Team

  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team covering data engineering, reporting & BI, helpdesk services, and field-based technical support
  • Own the quality, performance, and consistency of IS helpdesk, end-user training, and technical support services across the business
  • Set clear priorities across BAU software systems, data, and reporting workloads aligned to business needs
  • Ensure core BAU Software systems and data platforms are reliable, secure, and fit for purpose
  • Manage team capacity, performance, recruitment, onboarding, and development
  • Manage the systems & data team budget, tooling, platforms, and supplier relationships
  • Maintain strong vendor partnerships and ensure services deliver value

Act as a Business Analysis Capability

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand system, data, and reporting needs
  • Translate business requirements into clearly defined system and data initiatives
  • Partner with the Software Development Manager to support demand intake, prioritisation, and solution shaping
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, data quality, and reporting effectiveness
  • Support business cases, high-level estimates, and delivery approaches
  • Ensure delivered solutions meet agreed business outcomes

What Success Looks Like

  • Helpdesk, training, and field support services are reliable and meet service expectations
  • Core systems, data platforms, pipelines, and reporting remain stable, secure, and trusted
  • Systems and data initiatives are well scoped, prioritised, and aligned to business value
  • Business users have confidence in data quality and reporting outputs
  • The Systems & Data Team is engaged, capable, and well-led
  • Budgets, tooling, and supplier spend are well managed and deliver clear value

About You

You're a confident and pragmatic technology leader who balances operational reliability with continuous improvement.

You'll bring:

  • 8+ years' experience in information systems, technology, or data-related roles
  • Proven leadership of teams responsible for systems support, data, reporting, or platforms
  • Strong working knowledge across systems, data, and reporting domains
  • Solid business analysis capability — requirements, process improvement, and solution definition
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and service providers
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in IS, Computer Science, Data, Engineering, Business Analysis, or similar
  • Experience in the horticulture or primary sector
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments
  • Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence
  • A working understanding of data engineering, reporting, analytics, and data governance
  • A strong track record of collaboration with operations, development, and business teams

Why Join Seeka?

  • A chance to work for a leading NZX listed New Zealand business
  • Great working environment in the Bay of Plenty with a campus filled with orchards and open space
  • Great culture, focused on excellence and finding solutions to problems
  • Have genuine influence over how technology supports the business
  • Work with experienced, practical people who value collaboration and outcomes
  • Be part of a business where improvement, trust, and reliability really matter
  • Enjoy a role with breadth, impact, and leadership responsibility

Additional Information

  • Occasional travel to Seeka operational sites may be required
  • Some after-hours work may be needed to support business-critical systems
  • Participation in an on-call and availability roster is required (one week in 3 months, with compensation)
