Downer Digital is looking for an experienced Application & ETL Developer to join our collaborative, innovative team in Auckland. In this hybrid role, you'll have the flexibility to work from home while coming into the office a few times a week, working alongside a supportive and skilled team.
You'll play a key role in developing data integrations, applications, and reports across current on-prem systems and modern cloud technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to help transform how Downer Transport and Infrastructure uses data, delivering trusted insights and enabling smarter business decisions.
This is a permanent full time role based out of our South Auckland office.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SQL, Databricks, Python, and Azure Data Factory.
- Build Power Apps applications and integrate them with business systems.
- Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, ensuring accurate, reliable, and actionable data.
- Maintain and evolve the Transport Data Warehouse, applying data warehousing principles (including Kimball methodology).
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure solutions meet quality, security, and performance standards, including testing and documentation.
- Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement in processes, tools, and technology.
Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Matua
- 5+ years in application development, ETL, or data integration roles.
- Advanced SQL skills for data querying, transformation, and quality checks.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Python for data pipelines and analytics.
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, including PowerApps PCF development.
- Experience building Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and integration processes (Kimball methodology).
- 3+ years experience with Microsoft Power Apps in a complex environment.
Advantageous:
- C#/.NET Core experience
- Familiarity with Azure migrations and cloud infrastructure
- Spatial data handling
- Source control tools (DevOps, Git)
