Technical Lead

• Own technical direction for a large-scale WPF UI modernisation programme
• Hands-on leadership across C#/.NET, architecture, and engineering standards
• $130 - $135p/h + GST

Your new company: This organisation operates in a critical infrastructure environment, delivering high-impact technology solutions that support essential national services. You'll be joining a complex, large-scale programme with strong investment in modernisation and long-term system evolution.

Your new role: As Technical Lead, you will guide the modernisation of a core user interface platform within a multi-phase programme. You'll work across multiple workstreams, leading architectural decisions, uplifting engineering practices, and mentoring developers while remaining hands-on in the WPF codebase. In the initial phase, you'll drive upgrades and establish scalable patterns that will shape future delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Own technical direction for WPF UI modernisation, including architecture and performance
• Lead solution design across C#/.NET and WPF components
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions
• Contribute hands-on to development while mentoring engineers
• Establish and enforce engineering standards across code quality, testing, and CI/CD
• Manage technical debt and improve delivery practices
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and support release readiness

Requirements:

• Strong experience in C# and .NET
• Deep expertise in WPF and advanced XAML
• Strong understanding of MVVM, data binding, templating, and custom controls
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Strong Git experience
• Experience leading or mentoring developers in a technical capacity
• Ability to troubleshoot UI performance issues
• Experience with automated testing practices
• Nice to have: Java and monitoring tools such as Elastic, Logstash, Grafana or Kibana
