Job Title: Software Tester (QA Tester)
Job Summary
The Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software products before release. This role involves designing and executing test cases, identifying defects, verifying fixes, and working closely with developers and product teams to deliver stable, secure, and user-friendly software. The Software Tester plays a critical role in preventing production issues and improving overall product quality.
Key Responsibilities
Review software requirements, specifications, and design documents to understand test scope
Design, develop, and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test plans
Perform manual testing (functional, regression, integration, UAT)
Conduct basic automated testing where applicable (if tools are available)
Identify, document, track, and verify software defects using bug-tracking tools
Re-test resolved defects and validate fixes
Perform API testing, UI testing, and data validation where required
Ensure software meets business, compliance, and security requirements
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business teams to clarify issues
Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and release readiness assessments
Assist in improving QA processes, testing standards, and documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience as a Software Tester / QA Tester
Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and SDLC
Experience with manual testing techniques and defect tracking tools
Ability to write clear and structured test cases and bug reports
Basic understanding of databases and SQL (preferred)
Familiarity with web and mobile application testing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Postman, Cypress)
Experience testing financial, payment, or compliance-sensitive systems
Knowledge of Agile / Scrum development environments
Experience with API and integration testing
ISTQB or similar testing certification
