About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator to join our team in Takanini, Auckland. This is a full-time, permanent role operating specialized machinery used in paper processing and finishing. You will operate key production equipment and support smooth workflow on the machine line. While this role sits within a warehouse environment, the primary focus is machine operation, with occasional support tasks to maintain production flow.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (8 hours per day within this window) Reporting to: National Warehouse Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating slitter machines, guillotines, and other paper-processing equipment
- Ensuring machines are set up correctly before operation
- Performing basic machine checks, cleaning, and quality assurance
- Completing production runs to meet daily output targets
- Wrapping, stacking, and preparing completed product
- Assisting with occasional forklift or reach truck operation (if licensed)
- Quality checking product for accuracy and presentation
- Safely lifting up to 20kg as required for machine loading/unloading
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Experience operating industrial or production machinery
- Ability to follow machine operating procedures and safety instructions
- Comfortable regularly lifting up to 20kg
- Reliable communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test
Preferred:
- Reach Truck experience and/or licence
- Previous exposure to factory or processing environments
- Mechanically minded, proactive, and eager to learn more about machine operation
