Description

Action Manufacturing is NZ’s leading manufacturer of specialist vehicles and motorhomes and we are currently looking for Fibre Composite Technicians to join our heavy transport team.

We have 3 permanent, full-time roles available for skilled and experienced Fibre Composite Technicians at our manufacturing site at Fairfax Industries in Takanini, South Auckland. Our Fibre Composite Technicians are responsible for manufacturing the shell bodies used in our new‑build trucks and trailers. Each shell is produced to precise customer specifications and must be finished to a consistently high standard of quality.

Key skills and competencies required:

  • Apply knowledge of moulding processes, machine operating techniques and production methods to ensure the structural integrity of all fibre composite parts or components produced is of the highest quality
  • Read, interpret and follow basic diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, repair worksheets and other written instructions or procedures to complete accurate production of shells in the workshop
  • Experience of applying gelcoat using spray gun and glass using chopper gun
  • Experience with application of vacuum bag lamination and hand layout lamination techniques
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly with a high attention to detail
  • Good time management skills

To be considered for this role you will need to be able to demonstrate your knowledge via a minimum of 2 years’ practical experience gained in a fibre composite technician or similar role in a manufacturing/engineering or similar environment, supported by strong technical knowledge and capabilities and full competence with a wide range of tools and equipment.

Guaranteed Hours per Week: 40 hours worked Monday to Thursday 7am – 4.30pm and Fridays 7am to 11am Hourly Rate: $25 - $35 per hour depending on skills and experience Overtime Rate: Time and a half paid for all hours worked over 40 hours per week – when overtime is available
