Description:
A leading Christchurch furniture manufacturing company is seeking a skilled or semi-skilled Upholsterer to join their growing production team. This is a hands-on manufacturing, assembly, and factory production role working with upholstered furniture, including chairs and settees.
Due to internal role changes and business growth, there is a need for 1-2 Upholsterers / Furniture Assemblers to support production demand.

About the Role - Upholsterer / Furniture Assembler:
You will work in a busy furniture production and upholstery factory, assembling and finishing upholstered chairs and settees from pre-worked components. This is a physical, hands-on manufacturing role requiring accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail to produce high-quality finished furniture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upholstery of chairs, couches, and settees (furniture manufacturing)
- Final assembly of upholstered furniture products
- Working with pre-cut frames, foam, fabric, and components
- Stapling, pulling, stretching, and fitting upholstery materials
- Using hand tools, staple guns, pneumatic tools, and battery tools
- Quality control and finishing checks on all furniture products
- Identifying and fixing defects during assembly and production
Tools & Equipment Used:
- Hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, cutting tools)
- Staple guns and upholstery tools
- Pneumatic air tools and battery-powered tools
- Mechanical fasteners (bolts, screws, fittings)
Skills & Experience:
We are open to experience - ideal candidates may come from,
- Upholstery / Furniture manufacturing / Cabinet making
- Carpentry / Joinery / Trade assistant roles
- Factory work / Assembly line / Production worker roles
- Hands-on labouring or mechanical assembly backgrounds
Must have:
- Strong manual handling and physical capability (lifting, assembly work)
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control mindset
- Experience in factory, manufacturing, or assembly environments
- Ability to work independently in a production line environment
- Practical, mechanically minded approach to work
Upholstery experience is an advantage but not essential - full training provided for the right candidate.

Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am - 4:30 pm
