Description

Service Food's Christchurch Butchery Team is seeking committed and enthusiastic Meat Processing Assistants to join their afternoon shift.

We currently have two positions

  • Permanent part-time role
  • Fixed-term role until end June 2026 (part-time)

As a Poultry Process worker, you will play a crucial role in our daily operations. You will work closely with our skilled butchers and support our commitment to providing the finest meat products to our customers.

  • Immediate start
  • Location: Woolston, Christchurch
  • Days of work: 3 Days a week, Monday to Wednesday
  • Shift timings: 12.00 pm to 08.30 pm (approx.)

The job:

Your primary responsibilities will include accurately packaging and preparing poultry products to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards.

  • Poultry processing, Packing and labelling meat products with precision and care.
  • Ensuring that all products are packaged according to quality and safety standards.
  • Operate the vac pack, other equipment and machinery to wrap meat
  • Organising and preparing orders for timely delivery to customers.
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment.
  • Preparation of meat products as and when required (full training provided)
  • Following all Food Safety and Health and Safety processes to a high standard
  • Assist with general butchery and other operational duties

The person:

Our ideal candidate will possess some previous experience in a meat processing/packing role or related food industry experience.

The skills and attributes needed:

  • Previous experience working in a processing/Warehouse environment
  • An ability to follow instructions and to work under pressure
  • Good level of physical fitness and be able to lift up to 20 kgs.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining product quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong work ethic and a focus on safety and cleanliness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be Comfortable working in a cold environment
  • Reliable transport to work and willingness to learn
  • Be flexible in the role and take on additional tasks as required
