We are a local, family-owned powder coating and engineering business based north of Canterbury in Kaiapoi, and we’re looking for experienced Powder Coaters to join our growing team.
With over 20 years operating as an engineering company, we have recently expanded into powder coating. Our brand-new, purpose-built premises and modern equipment allow us to deliver high-quality workmanship and exceptional service to our clients.
About the Role This is a hands-on, physically demanding role suited to someone who enjoys working on their feet and takes pride in producing high-quality finishes. ⚠️ This role requires proven, hands-on powder coating experience. To be considered, applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ previous powder coating experience in an industrial or commercial environment. This is not a training or entry-level position.
Key Responsibilities Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Accepting deliveries using a forklift or swing jib crane (Forklift and/or overhead crane certificates advantageous)
- Ensuring all items receive correct chemical and pre-treatments (Pre-treating and chemical handling certificates advantageous)
- Jigging and preparing products prior to powder coating
- Powder coating items to a consistently high standard
- Confidently selecting correct powders for each job, weighing product, and returning powders to storage
- Preparing finished goods for collection using appropriate protective wrapping
- Maintaining a clean and tidy workstation
- Adhering to all health and safety requirements
About You You will ideally have:
- Demonstrated, practical experience as a powder coater
- The ability to work independently while also taking direction
- Strong physical fitness, including regular bending, maneuvering around jigged items, and daily heavy lifting
- Flexibility with working hours (Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:30pm, 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be required to meet workflow and customer demand)
- A punctual and reliable work ethic
- Good communication skills with both team members and customers
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to assist across all areas of production
