Job Description

We're gearing up for our busy season and are putting together motivated teams to start at our Moerewa processing facility to help get NZ Beef from our backyard to customers plates.

Hours of work vary from 30 – 50 hours per week with paid rates ranging from $25 to $40 per hour dependent on assigned task, skill and experience, plus any applicable allowances and overtime.

Qualifications

As a skilled Meat Process Worker, you will have had six months experience using knives or working with meat products. While not required we will give preference to any applicants that holds a New Zealand meat processing qualifications or a recognised equivalent.

We can even help you gain a New Zealand Apprenticeship in Slaughter Operations (Level 4) or New Zealand Certificate in Meat Processing and Meat Product Manufacturing (Level 4) with strands in Slaughter Floor Operations and Dressing Operations. 

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

  • Removing viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses.
  • Hygienically dressing carcasses in preparation for primal cuts or further processing and packaging.
  • Operating slaughter-floor equipment, such as cutters and flays.
  • Trimming and removing head meat and severing animal heads.
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, mesh safety equipment) as provided by the employer.
