This business is a mussel processing facility based in Whitianga. The mussels are sourced mainly from aquaculture farms around the Coromandel Peninsula and provide a high-quality product exporting to the USA, Europe and Asia.
They are seeking reliable and hardworking Mussel Shuckers to join the mussel processing team. The role involves opening blanched mussels in a fast-paced factory environment while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and workplace safety. This will be on a Fixed Term Contract due to the seasonality of mussel farming.
Responsibilities Shucking mussels efficiently and accurately Handling seafood products according to food safety and hygiene standards Operating basic processing tools and equipment as required Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment Following company procedures, health and safety guidelines, and quality standards Working as part of a team to meet daily production targets Personal Attributes Strong work ethic and attention to detail Willingness to learn and follow instructions Ability to work independently and as part of a team Positive attitude and commitment to workplace safety Additional Information Drug and alcohol testing may be required pre-employment Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand References required from previous roles Experience required at least one full recent (within the last 3 years) mussel processing season.
Hours – these can vary depending on the availability of the product. The typical shifts are: Monday to Friday 6am to 3pm. Pay Rate: $23.50 to $28 depending on experience Or piece rates available for highly productive mussel shuckers Guaranteed 30 hours per week
