Description

About the role:

  • Stellar Recruitment currently have multiple Light Vehicle Mechanic positions available in the Canterbury region
  • Full time, permanent work with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Your ordinary hours of work will be 40 hours per week normally worked between 6:00am 6:00pm Monday to Friday. However, you may be required to work the occasional Saturday.
  • $28 to $32 per hour depending on experience.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • You must have at least 2 years of relevant automotive and/or engine work experience. You must be able to work within the timeframe of the project and be a reliable member of the team.
  • Knowing, understanding, communicating, and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements, and company safety policies and procedures.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Repairs to various components, including but not limited to, ignition systems, electrical circuits, cooling systems, engine components, petrol fuel systems, emission control systems.
  • Inspect, service and/or repair clutch assemblies, hydraulic braking, drive assembles, steering and suspension systems, transmissions, batteries.
  • Carry out diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained and stored.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Operate various items of plant and ancillary equipment as required by Supervisor (if trained, assessed and deemed competent to do so).
  • Assess, identify and notify Supervisor of any technical issues.

Please note: Our clients currently have projects across the regions of Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury and we aim to place successful candidates into projects within one of these regions based on their place of residence or preference. Daily commuting between regions and projects will not be expected but should projects within a particular region cease, relocation to an alternative region may be required, in which case notice will be given, and relocation policies will apply.
