Practicable is a growing health and safety consultancy that supports businesses to make health and safety simpler, more practical, and more effective.
We work across a range of industries including construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, forestry, and higher risk operational environments. Our work includes health and safety systems, audits, risk management, incident investigations, contractor management, critical risk programmes, and ongoing advisory support.
We are now looking for a capable Senior Health and Safety Consultant to join the business and support our growing client base.
About the role
This is a senior consulting role suited to someone who can work confidently with business owners, managers, operational teams, and workers.
You will provide practical health and safety advice, complete audits and reviews, support clients with risk management, and help develop health and safety systems that are useful in the real world, not just documents that sit on a shelf.
The role will include a mix of site based work, remote work, client meetings, reporting, and system development.
Key responsibilities
The role may include:
Providing practical health and safety advice to clients across a range of industries Completing health and safety audits, site inspections, and gap assessments Developing and reviewing health and safety management systems, procedures, forms, and risk registers Supporting clients with contractor management, worker engagement, training, and assurance activities Facilitating risk assessments, critical risk reviews, and control verification activities Supporting incident investigations and helping clients identify practical corrective actions Preparing clear written reports, recommendations, and client facing documents Building strong relationships with clients and helping them improve their health and safety performance over time Supporting the continued growth and development of Practicable About you
We are looking for someone who is experienced, practical, and confident working directly with clients.
You will likely have:
Significant experience in health and safety advisory, management, or consulting roles Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and practical application of the Health and Safety at Work Act Experience completing audits, risk assessments, investigations, and system reviews The ability to communicate clearly with senior leaders, managers, supervisors, and frontline workers Strong written skills and the ability to prepare professional reports and practical documents A pragmatic approach to health and safety, with a focus on controls that are realistic and effective Confidence working independently, managing priorities, and representing the business professionally A relevant health and safety qualification or professional membership, or a clear pathway toward this
Experience in construction, electrical, manufacturing, utilities, property, or higher risk operational environments would be an advantage.
