Description

Te Whānau o Otu Mātua HRC is seeking a reliable and organised part-time Cook to join our team and support our residential ākonga through nutritious, well-prepared meals.

This is a permanent, part-time position (15 hours per week) worked across Saturday and Sunday. Hours are flexible by arrangement but must be worked across the weekend.

Remuneration: ~$25 per hour, in accordance with the Specialist Residential Schools’ Collective Agreement.

About the Role You will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our onsite kitchen, including:

  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals for residential ākonga
  • Catering for occasional onsite events
  • Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
  • Managing kitchen organisation and supplies

The role is predominantly term-time only, with the addition of one week (two days) during each school holiday break.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience preparing meals in a commercial or large-scale setting
  • Is organised and able to work independently
  • Takes pride in producing quality, nourishing food
  • Understands the importance of creating a safe environment for young people
  • Is willing to work from a culturally responsive perspective
  • Is a team player

A clean police vet will be required to secure the position.

Located in Christchurch, Te Whānau o Otu Mātua HRC is a specialist residential school supporting young people with neurodiverse behaviours including ASD, ADHD, FASD, intellectual impairments, trauma and related presentations.
