Description

Selwyn United FC is seeking expressions of interest for the full-time role of General Manager. This position leads all non-footballing operations of the club and plays a central role in ensuring Selwyn United delivers a professional, positive and well-managed experience for our members, partners, and wider community. The General Manager will oversee day-to-day operations, staff and contractor management, budgeting, communications, and facilities coordination, while working closely with, and supported by, the Board, Administration Manager, Director of Football, Football Development Officer, Junior Football Coordinator and wider football staff. A key focus of the role is ensuring that club processes, events, and communications are well planned, consistently delivered, and aligned with Selwyn United’s values and long-term vision. Core responsibilities include:

  • Leading all non-football operations and maintaining strong relationships with key external partners, including Mainland Football, Selwyn District Council, Selwyn Sports Trust, and Paladin
  • Maintaining clear documentation, annual calendars, and structured processes across the club
  • Managing staff and ensuring football products are delivered efficiently, professionally, and within budget
  • Overseeing field, turf, and sports centre bookings, line marking, and issue escalation
  • Handling complaints, reporting to the Board, and ensuring compliance with club licensing requirements
  • Ensuring authentic and consistent storytelling across social media and club communications
  • Supporting futsal, holiday programs, coach and referee development, tournaments, summer football, and Talent Development
  • Working with the Board to sustain financial viability and grow the club’s business model We are seeking a high calibre, capable, organised leader with strong communication skills, proven operational experience, and a commitment to community sport. Experience in football environments is beneficial but not essential.
