The Opportunity: DRIVING INSTRUCTOR AND COMMUNITY DRIVING TESTING OFFICER, based in Timaru.
We deliver driver licence support and driving instruction in Oamaru, Timaru, Ashburton and Christchurch.
Due to ongoing demand and expansion of our Y-Drive Driving School service in South Canterbury, we are looking to recruit a new Driving Instructor and Community Driving Testing Officer., either on a part-time or full-time basis.
If you hold a current Full Class 1 Driver Licence and a current Instructor’s (“I”) endorsement and/or Testing Office (“O”) endorsement, we are keen to hear from you. You must currently hold one of the above mentioned two driving endorsements to apply for this position.
Ideally it suits a person who is passionate about providing a “hand-up” to those people in our community who present with barriers to success and are likely to need support to gain the necessary theory and/or practical driver licence knowledge and skills to achieve their restricted and/or full driver’s licence.

- are a qualified Class 1 driving instructor and/or Testing Office and hold a current full New Zealand driver licence.
- are a “people person”, with a positive energy, passion, and intrinsic desire to empower and support people to achieve their Class 1 learner, restricted and/or full driver’s licence.
- are prepared to build strong relationships with both our clients and local stakeholders
- are confident, resourceful, optimistic, and ready to meet any challenge
- are highly organised, with strong computer skills
- have common sense, resiliency, empathy, a sense of humour and ability to use initiative
- have a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and apply tikanga in relevant work settings
- can uphold the core values of the Y: Honesty, Caring, Responsibility and Respect
