Location: Mandeville, North Canterbury Type: Part-Time - To be Negotiated

About Us Mandeville Sports Club manages and maintains a 80-hectare recreation reserve in North Canterbury, supporting 12 affiliated sports and community clubs. The reserve is a key hub for local sport and recreation, providing high-quality playing surfaces, open spaces, and shared facilities for a wide range of users year-round.

The Role We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Groundsperson to maintain our sports fields and facilities to the highest standard. This is a hands-on outdoor role perfect for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in the "aesthetic and playability" of sports turf.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety: Ensuring the Health and Safety of all users is maintained at all times.
  • Turf Maintenance: Mowing, irrigating, fertilizing, and controlling weeds/pests across all grassed areas.
  • Equipment Care: Operating and performing basic maintenance on tractors, ride-on mowers, and general machinery.
  • Facility Upkeep: Ensuring all buildings, fences, pathways, and surrounding grounds are clean, safe, and well-presented.
  • Project Work: Assisting the Mandeville Sports Club with ongoing project and community work around the 80ha reserve. About You
  • Experience: Previous experience in sports turf management or groundskeeping is highly regarded.
  • Skills: Competent in operating machinery (Tractors and Mowers), outdoor power equipment and hand tools.
  • Attributes: Require excellent communication skills and to be physically fit, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge: A good level / understanding of soil/plant health, chemical applications and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Requirements: A valid NZ Driver’s License is essential. What We Offer
