Te Ora Hou is a kaupapa-led organisation made up of passionate, caring people committed to supporting rangatahi and their whānau to achieve positive and lasting change within our community.

We are seeking a qualified, registered Social Worker with approximately 3–5 years’ experience to join our team. This full-time role has a strong focus on relationship-based, strengths-focused practice, working alongside rangatahi and their whānau to explore positive, constructive pathways forward.

This is an opportunity to do meaningful, community-based mahi within a supportive and values-driven environment.

About the role You will work collaboratively with rangatahi, whānau and partner organisations, supporting change through respectful, solution-focused practice. Our approach is grounded in whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and reflective practice, with an emphasis on teamwork and learning together.

You will demonstrate

  • Strong time management and self-organisation
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication
  • Experience facilitating conversations with rangatahi and whānau
  • A strengths-based, solutions-focused practice approach
  • The ability to build genuine, trusting relationships with rangatahi
  • Adaptability in dynamic environments
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset
  • A foundational understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga (or a willingness to grow)
