About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Bovine Reproduction Technician to support advanced cattle reproductive technologies including IVF (in vitro fertilisation), embryo transfer, and donor/recipient programme management.
While our laboratory is based in Hamilton, most work is conducted on-farm across multiple regions, requiring frequent travel and regular overnight stays away from home.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with ovum pick-up (OPU) procedures on-farm and at donor centres
- Support embryo transfer (fresh and frozen) procedures
- Assist with donor synchronisation and stimulation programmes
- Support recipient synchronisation and coordination
- Perform artificial insemination (AI) in cattle
- Handle oocytes and embryos in a laboratory environment
- Conduct embryo assessment using stereomicroscopes and lab equipment
- Assist with embryo freezing, thawing, and storage
- Coordinate scheduling with clients and manage farm visits
- Maintain accurate records and reporting
- Work collaboratively with local staff and international technical consultants

Key Requirements
- Demonstrated practical exposure to bovine reproductive technologies, gained through internships, training programmes, or hands-on placements
- Knowledge or training in:
- IVF / embryo production systems
- Artificial insemination (AI)
- OPU procedures (training or theoretical understanding required; practical experience preferred)
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, including use of microscopes for embryo handling
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and stay overnight away from home

Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in animal science, veterinary science, or a related field
- Ongoing or completed postgraduate study in bovine reproduction or reproductive technologies is advantageous

Additional Skills (Highly Valued)
- Fluency in Portuguese and English, to support communication with international consultants and technical partners
- Familiarity with Brazilian reproductive systems or IVP technologies
- Exposure to commercial embryo production environments
