Do you want to estimate Mechanical (HVAC) & Electrical Systems for interesting Industrial, Commercial and Residential projects where your expertise is challenged? Then a position as a Senior Estimator at Fantail Services Ltd is your new challenge!

What will you do? As a Senior Estimator at Fantail, you will be a key figure in our estimating department. You are responsible to learn our estimating processes to then lead by example to undertake efficient estimating of Mechanical (HVAC) & Electrical Systems. You will be able to work unsupervised and are responsible for:

• Producing accurate measurement take-offs and preparing detailed, accurate cost estimates for all Mechanical (HVAC) and electrical systems which include piping, ducting, valves, wiring, equipment, controls, power supplies, support systems, seismic, switchboards & BMS
• Providing value engineering and alternative recommendations
• Analyzing drawings, specifications, schedules, and scopes to ensure complete and compliant pricing
• Develop clear, well-structured tender submissions, including breakdowns, exclusions, clarifications, and assumptions
• Review and validate supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitiveness and correctness
• Identify risks, cost drivers, and pricing sensitivities within estimates and communicate these clearly to the Team
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and building codes
• Assist in developing and refining estimating methodologies, cost libraries, and pricing models
• Work closely with the business as we develop improved estimating systems and workflows, contributing ideas that improve efficiency, speed, and consistency

• A starting salary in the range of $80k - $110k, depending on your knowledge & experience

Excellent secondary benefits include:

• Paid birthday working day off and a gift
• At 5 years’ continuous employment, an additional $2,300 is added to your base salary.
• At 10 years’ continuous employment, additional 3 days annual leave and an additional sick leave entitlement
• At 15 years’ continuous employment a $2,000 gross one-off bonus will be paid + a one-off annual leave grant of 10 working days

You have a passion for the construction and building services industry, for technology & can apply your practicality, creativity, initiative, written & verbal communication, and organizational skills effectively for this role. You adapt your communication style as needed, quickly understand processes & can grasp new concepts in a short time. You have:

• A recognized Qualification or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Experience in the building services subtrade sector & meeting deadlines
• Demonstrated estimating experience across commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects.
• A strong understanding of construction documentation, specifications, and procurement processes.
• Excellent communication and social skills, comfortable engaging with suppliers and clients.
• Ability to represent the business professionally, demonstrating confidence, credibility, and strong interpersonal skills
• Experience working in New Zealand’s construction and building services market
• A customer first focus, are highly communicative & positively critical
