Welder Fabricator

The Steelworks Engineering Co is a specialty fabrication workshop based in Wairau Valley. We pride ourselves on precision craftsmanship, particularly in stainless steel, aluminium, and other metals. Our diverse range of work includes construction projects, marine fabrication, production manufacturing, and unique one-off design-and-build jobs.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Welder / Fabricator to join our small team. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong background in MIG and TIG welding, particularly with steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

Responsibilities Include Carry out MIG and TIG welding tasks to a high standard Read and interpret technical drawings to fabricate and assemble components accurately Operate and maintain workshop equipment, including welders, benders and general machinery Operate tube and pipe bending equipment (training will be provided) Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely Perform occasional off-site work as required

Requirements Proven experience in welding stainless steel and aluminium High level of competency across general fabrication tasks Ability to work independently and take ownership of jobs Confidence in reading and understanding engineering drawings Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Good communication skills and fluent English Physically fit, with the ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods

Bonus Skills (Not Essential) Experience operating manual lathe and milling machines Familiarity with tube bending, or willingness to learn (training provided)

We are offering a full-time position of 40hrs per week from 7.30 to 4pm. Open to NZ residents only.
