We’re growing and are looking for an experienced, hands-on Project Manager who enjoys being close to the work and thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment.
We are seeking an experienced Welding & Fabrication Supervisor to join our growing team. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who enjoys leading from the front and working alongside their crew to deliver quality outcomes safely, on time and within budget.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Projects Team, you will be responsible for supervising workshop and site personnel, coordinating daily activities, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered successfully.
This is a combined role involving:
- Site and workshop supervision
- Crew leadership and mentoring
- Client and contractor liaison
- Project planning and coordination
- Quality assurance and compliance
- Hands-on welding and fabrication work
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise workshop and site personnel
- Plan daily work activities and allocate labour and equipment
- Coordinate logistics, materials and consumables
- Maintain strong client and contractor relationships
- Ensure projects are delivered safely on time and within budget
- Conduct toolbox meetings and support health & safety compliance
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols
- Perform TIG and MIG welding, fabrication, fitting and assembly work
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure work meets specifications
- Support stock control, purchasing and job planning
- Assist with job costings, timesheets and operational reporting
- Mentor apprentices and junior staff
What We're Looking For
- Trade-qualified Welder/Fabricator
- Minimum 5 years' welding and fabrication experience
- Proven experience leading teams, supervising projects or acting as a leading hand
- Strong TIG and MIG welding capability
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety requirements
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Full New Zealand driver's licence
