Seipp Construction is looking for an experienced Fitter Welder to join our Christchurch-based mechanical team. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in doing things properly, values safety, and enjoys a mix of workshop fabrication and site-based project work across New Zealand.

About the role
You’ll work closely with our Mechanical Technicians and Workshop Supervisor, carrying out mechanical fitting and fabrication work both in our Christchurch workshop and on sites nationwide.
Your work will be varied, challenging, and practical -executing mechanical and fabrication activities safely, efficiently, and to a high industry standard.
This role suits someone who is confident working autonomously, but equally comfortable being part of a tight, well-run team.
What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out mechanical fitting and fabrication work in the workshop and on site
- Working to project plans, specifications, programmes, and budgets
- Operating plant and equipment safely and efficiently
- Providing regular updates on progress, productivity, and any risks
- Supporting continuous improvement and helping lift standards across the team
- Stepping in to support other key team members when required

What we’re looking for:
Qualifications & experience
- Trade Certificate in an engineering trade (or higher)
- 15+ years’ experience in mechanical/fabrication delivery
- Proven experience working on complex projects involving plant and materials
- Strong constructability knowledge and practical problem-solving skills
- Confident decision-maker with the ability to work autonomously
