Interior Finishing CARPENTER - Antarctica

Tradestaff Global is actively applications from qualified and experienced Interior Finishing Carpenters to work on McMurdo Station in Antarctica.

Deployments are expected to commence ASAP and run through to approximately May 2026. This is a unique opportunity to spend a short period of time working on the ice, in one of the most remote and remarkable environments in the world.

WHAT’S THE JOB? Construction in Antarctica is like nowhere else, and these roles suit hardworking, reliable team players who are happy to pitch in on the tools, tackle the basics, do the mahi, and look out for one another. You’ll be working on large-scale commercial building project which is nearing completion. We are on the hunt for Carpenters with a strong history in interior finishing and fit-out. We’re particularly interested in carpenters with experience in the following:

• Wall linings, and interior fit-out on commercial projects such as office spaces.
• Extensive High end residential finishing experience.

WHAT’S THE CATCH?

• Due to travel restrictions, ONLY New Zealand and US Citizens with New Zealand or US passports currently and permanently living and working in New Zealand can apply.
• Vaccinations: You need to be happy to have Flu, Tdap & MMR Vaccines.
• You’ll work long hours, six days out of seven.
• You will be on the ice the whole time. This is not a FIFO role.
• Start dates are approximate and are subject to you passing medical and dental checks, getting security clearance, your notice period and ice flight availability.
• You must pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test.
• You need a Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence and a clean criminal record.
• The application process is lengthy; you will need to demonstrate patience when working through the application process.
• You must be prepared to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams. We pay for testing and flights if travelling from outside the Bay of Plenty.
