A high-return, award-winning franchising cleaning company providing professional commercial cleaning services across Hokitika and the West Coast Region is looking for three professional commercial cleaners.
About the role:
The Commercial Cleaner is responsible for providing high-quality cleaning and hygiene services at various commercial premises such as offices, retail stores, hospitality venues, industrial facilities, and community buildings. The role ensures clients receive a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment that meets contract standards and company expectations.
This is a full-time, permanent position, with approximately 30-45 hours of work per week.
- Location: Work takes place at various commercial locations across Hokitika and the West Coast Region
- Salary: $26 - 30 per hour
- The role involves working during early mornings, late evenings, or weekends, and public holidays, depending on client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors.
- Cleaning, dusting, and sanitising surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and high-touch points.
- Cleaning and sanitising bathrooms, showers, kitchens, break rooms, and wash areas.
- Emptying rubbish bins, replacing liners, and managing waste disposal.
- Cleaning windows, glass panels, mirrors, and partitions.
- Carrying out periodic deep cleaning tasks as scheduled (e.g., carpet cleaning, machine scrubbing).
- Operating commercial cleaning equipment such as polishers, scrubbers, water extractors, and vacuum cleaners.
- Using chemicals in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Reporting any faults or maintenance issues with equipment immediately.
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures, including safe chemical handling and PPE use.
- Ensuring cleaning tasks meet hygiene requirements relevant to each client’s premises.
- Complying with site-specific security or access protocols.
- Reporting hazards, accidents, or unusual situations to the Cleaning Service Manager.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous commercial cleaning experience preferred but not essential (training provided).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Clean criminal history
- Ability to follow instructions, checklists, and workplace policies.
- Good understanding of hygiene standards and safety practices.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual cleaning tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team.
