Description

We are looking for someone with strong electrical industry knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to produce accurate, competitive estimates while supporting successful project delivery. This role offers a unique opportunity to step into a diverse, client-facing position where no two days are the same—combining technical understanding, project coordination, and customer relationship building. If you enjoy variety, problem-solving, and being part of a high-performing team, this position provides excellent long-term growth.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Diverse, future-focused estimating career: Work across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, preparing detailed estimates that directly contribute to business success.
  • Client-facing and relationship-driven: Engage with customers, attend site visits, and build relationships that lead to ongoing work and long-term partnerships.
  • Hands-on involvement: Not just a desk role—attend site meetings, complete handovers, support project delivery, and assist with variations, claims, invoicing, and project wrap-ups.
  • Strong internal support: Work closely with the Managing Director, Project Managers, and admin team in a collaborative, tight-knit environment.
  • Industry-leading tools: Use Simpro, Groundplan, and supplier platforms to prepare accurate estimates and ensure smooth project setup.
  • Clear development pathway: Long-term opportunities to progress into senior estimating, project management, or leadership roles.

Responsibilities

Estimating & Costing

  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • Complete detailed take-offs and labour calculations
  • Prepare competitive estimates using Simpro, Groundplan, and supplier tools
  • Source supplier and subcontractor quotes, negotiating competitive pricing

Client Engagement & Site Visits

  • Attend site visits, tender meetings, and client consultations
  • Provide design insights and practical solutions
  • Build strong relationships and follow up to secure work

Project Setup & Support

  • Convert successful quotes into jobs in Simpro
  • Raise purchase orders and manage initial procurement
  • Provide clear handovers to project managers
  • Support project teams with variations, claims, invoicing, and cost queries

Project Completion

  • Assist with final accounts and project close-out
  • Contribute to post-project reviews to improve accuracy and efficiency

What You Will Bring

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and industry standards
  • Experience with estimating or job management software (Simpro & Groundplan ideal)
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks and opportunities
  • Proactive, organised, and committed to quality

About You You’re practical, technically minded, and enjoy working with clients and solving problems. You communicate clearly, think critically, and take pride in producing accurate work. Whether you’re an experienced estimator or an electrician looking to step into a commercial role, you enjoy variety, responsibility, and contributing to a team environment.

Requirements

  • NZ Qualified Electrician with a current EWRB License
  • NZ Resident or valid Work Visa
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
