As demand continues to grow, we’re excited to offer an opportunity for a Trainee Field Service Espresso Machine Technician to join our team. This is a rare chance to learn a specialised trade within the thriving hospitality industry, with full training provided.

Role Overview

In this trainee role, you’ll work alongside experienced technicians to learn how to service, repair, and install commercial espresso machines and grinders. You’ll gain hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and build confidence in providing professional service to our valued customers.

This position is ideal for someone with mechanical or electrical aptitude who’s keen to build a long-term career in a unique and rewarding field.

Pre trade electrical level 3 is a minimum requirement for this position.

What You’ll Learn

  • Servicing and repairing major brands of espresso machines and grinders
  • Performing routine maintenance for commercial clients
  • Troubleshooting and responding to customer callouts
  • Preventative maintenance practices and manufacturer guidelines
  • Accurate job recording using Tech Op’s Job Management System
  • Safe handling, transport, and installation of equipment

Who We’re Looking For

  • Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude
  • Willingness to work toward (or already hold) the Trainee NZ EST licence
  • A full manual driver’s licence
  • Good communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a positive approach to learning
  • Physical capability to lift and move commercial equipment
  • A genuine interest in coffee or technical machinery
  • Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship
  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and within a team

  • On-Call Roster: Participation in a one-in-five weekend roster once training and competency levels are achieved
