Description

Ready for a change from the usual day-to-day?

This FIFO opportunity in the Pacific Islands offers licensed electricians a different way to work, earn and live — with intensive project-based work followed by proper time back home.

Tradestaff Global is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced qualified Electricians for upcoming commercial construction projects across remote Pacific Island locations.

Some opportunities may come up quickly, while others may be planned further in advance. We are building a strong pool of reliable, experienced tradespeople who are ready to move when the right project kicks off.

THE ROLE

You’ll be working on remote island commercial construction projects, carrying out a range of electrical work that may include:

  • Commercial new build electrical installations
  • Cable tray, conduit and wiring installations
  • Switchboard installation, fit-off and testing
  • Maintenance and repair work on existing systems
  • Fault finding and general site electrical support
  • Working alongside multi-trade teams in remote, logistically challenging environments

This role will suit someone who is adaptable, hands-on and comfortable moving between different electrical tasks as site requirements change.

THE OPPORTUNITY

These are FIFO-style deployments where you will work full-time on site during your rotation, then return home for extended breaks between swings.

Final schedules are still to be confirmed, however indicative rotation options may include:

  • 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off
  • 4 weeks on / 1 week off
  • 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off

Work weeks are expected to be full-time on site, with longer days typical of remote project delivery — up to approximately 80 hours per week, depending on project requirements.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

This is not your standard Monday-to-Friday electrical job.

You’ll work hard while you’re on site, but the trade-off is meaningful time back home between rotations. That could mean more time to:

  • Spend with family and friends
  • Get stuck into home projects and renovations
  • Go fishing, surfing or travelling
  • Be around for school holidays, camps, drop-offs and pick-ups
  • Properly reset between work swings

For the right person, this is a chance to work differently — with a role that can give you more control over your time between projects.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for experienced electricians who are confident working in remote, high-output environments.

You will need:

  • A current NZ Electrical Practising Licence — essential
  • Strong commercial construction experience
  • The ability to work in remote project environments
  • A solid work ethic, reliability and a strong team mindset
  • Good fitness levels for hot and humid work environments
  • The ability to pass pre-employment checks, including medical, drug and alcohol, and police checks
  • A full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence

WHAT’S GENERALLY ON OFFER

Project dependent

  • Return flights from major NZ airports
  • Accommodation and meals supplied on site
  • Travel insurance and logistics support
  • PPE provided where required
  • Opportunity to gain international project experience
  • Support from an experienced offshore project team

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • This is an Expression of Interest only — there are no confirmed start dates yet
  • Candidates must hold a NZ Passport
  • Candidates must be currently and permanently based in New Zealand

FIFO work in the Pacific is not just another job — it is a different way of working and living.
