Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
We're looking for a skilled Electrician / Electrical Fitter to join our Energy & Utilities team in Paeroa. In this role, you'll be responsible for the installation, construction, maintenance and fault diagnosis/rectification of electricity distribution network equipment.
Working closely with Area Managers, Supervisors and Project Managers, you will interpret job requirements, plan materials and resources, and deliver high‑quality work safely and efficiently. You'll have the autonomy to work independently, while being part of a supportive, experienced field team who value collaboration and technical excellence.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering 40 guaranteed hours per week, with penal rates for overtime and night work.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills You'll bring a solid foundation in electrical distribution work, with experience across maintenance, construction and fault response, along with strong technical knowledge and the ability to communicate clearly and work safely in all conditions. Key skills include:
- Relevant electrical trade qualification, current electrical registration and practising licence (NZQA Level 4 or equivalent)
- Experience with substations, transformers, switchgear, regulators and network assets
- Knowledge and capability in both underground and overhead distribution construction
- Strong understanding of substation equipment, electrical test equipment, systems and procedures
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, physically fit and able to work outdoors in challenging conditions
