Qualified Electrician | Pathway into HVAC, Refrigeration & Mechanical

Winter Services is looking for a qualified electrician to join our team in Wellington / Greater Wellington Region. This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum guaranteed 40 hours per week.

You’ll initially be focused on electrical work across our projects, with the opportunity to learn HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical systems, solar, and advanced controls over time.

If you already have experience with HVAC, heat pump systems, refrigeration, or mechanical services, that is a huge bonus and will be remunerated accordingly.

Over 80% of our team are qualified tradespeople. You’ll be working alongside experienced technicians who care about standards, learning, and backing each other to get the job done properly.

• HVAC systems

• Mechanical plant

• Heat recovery systems
• Hot water heat pump systems
• Specialised machinery

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

• Electrical installation, servicing, maintenance and fault-finding
• Testing, commissioning and repairs
• Working on projects and service work across commercial and residential sites
• Assisting with or learning HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical systems over time
• Reading plans and specifications where required
• Completing job documentation and communicating clearly with the team and customers
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, safety, and compliance

Minimum requirements:

• Qualified electrician
• Current New Zealand practising licence and registration as an electrician, or otherwise eligible to meet New Zealand registration requirements
• Full driver’s licence
• Experience carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, servicing, and fault-finding
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and a high standard of workmanship

Bonus skills:

• HVAC or heat pump experience
• Refrigeration or mechanical service experience
• Solar experience
• Controls or BMS exposure
