Based in Reefton, this well-established electrical business services the township and surrounding rural and industrial areas. Projects span residential, commercial, agricultural, industrial, dairy, mining, HVAC and emerging solar installations.

This role oversees the entire operation for this location and plays a key part in the company's continued growth and operational excellence.

About the Role:
This is a true working Division Manager role — combining hands-on electrical expertise with operational leadership and business growth responsibility.
You will spend approximately 60-70% of your time on the tools completing installations, fault-finding, commissioning and technical work across residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial environments.
The remaining time will focus on:
- Overseeing day-to-day divisional operations
- Pricing and quoting projects
- Developing sales and growth initiatives
- Managing project delivery (on time, on budget, high quality)
- Hiring, mentoring and developing staff
- Monitoring financial performance
This role suits someone who enjoys ownership, accountability and leading from the front.
Core Responsibilities:
Technical
- Complex installations, upgrades and repairs
- Fault finding across varied environments
- Testing and commissioning to NZ standards
- Motors, generators, controls and PLC systems
- Emergency breakdown and on-call response
- Exposure to dairy, mining and heavy industry advantageous
- Solar knowledge beneficial
Leadership
- Lead daily operations of the electrical division
- Supervise electricians and apprentices
- Recruit, train and mentor staff
- Build a high-performance team culture
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships
Operations & Compliance
- Accurate pricing and quoting
- Client liaison and stakeholder management
- Oversee invoicing and documentation
- Ensure compliance with NZ Electrical Regulations and WorkSafe
- Manage health & safety systems
- Monitor project progress and resource allocation
What's Required:
- NZ Registered Electrician with current EWRB practising licence
- 5 - 10+ years' experience across residential, commercial & industrial sectors
- Proven leadership or management experience
- Strong operational and project management skills
- Experience in pricing and quoting work
- Strong knowledge of NZ electrical codes and compliance
- PLC and low-voltage control experience is highly regarded
- First Aid and Site Safe/H&S certification preferred
- Full, clean NZ Class 1 driver's licence
- Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills
- Physically capable of hands-on work
- Legal right to work in New Zealand

Working Environment:
A varied, fast-paced role servicing Reefton and surrounding rural and industrial areas including farms, commercial buildings, industrial plants and mines. On-call work and challenging conditions are part of the role.
