You can help bring our villages to life!

At Summerset, from the moment we start developing a village, to when our residents call it home, it’s the passion and dedication of our people that brings our villages to life. We are one team united by being part of something bigger – to bring the best of life to our residents.

Job Description We are looking for a skilled Gardener to join our Summerset in the Vines village in Havelock North! Ideally you will have gardening or landscaping experience. But more important to us will be your genuine passion for creating great environments and love for all kinds of people from all walks of life.

This is a busy and diverse role, assisting the Property Manager with day-to-day garden maintenance activities. Therefore, you will need to be organised and efficient, while a good level of fitness will prove useful for delivering the best in service.

You will also need to be a team player and able to manage your time well in order to complete all your tasks. This is a full time role from Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 4.00pm (there is flexibility for the right applicant with these hours).

Qualifications Ideally, you’ll bring some experience in gardening or landscaping—but what matters most to us is your genuine passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces and your warm, respectful approach to people from all walks of life. You’ll be a team player who can also work independently, managing your time effectively to ensure daily tasks are completed to a high standard. Being well-organised, efficient, and physically fit will help you thrive in this hands-on role and deliver great service to our residents. A genuine passion for creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces, along with a warm, respectful approach to people from all walks of life, is essential.

At Summerset, we believe diversity strengthens our team and enriches the care we provide. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life—including those with transferable skills from other industries. You may not tick all the requirements, and that’s okay; we value what you bring to the table and look at the whole individual. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported to thrive.

Equal opportunity is at the heart of how we recruit, and we encourage you to bring your unique perspective and passion to our team.

Summerset's known for its excellent benefits and strong sense of values around care, teamwork and drive for excellence. With some of the best benefits in the sector, some of these include:

  • Southern Cross Health Essentials Insurance
  • Birthday leave
  • Employee share scheme
  • Discounts at a range of suppliers

Next Steps: Applications for this role will close on Wednesday 21st January. This role may close early due to an increased number of applications - apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
