Title: Maintenance/Grounds Type: Part-time / Permanent Hourly Rate: $28.95 as per the School Caretakers, Cleaners and Canteen Staff Collective Agreement 2025-2027 Hours: 20 hours per week

Are you looking for a fresh start or a change in career opportunity? We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance/Grounds Person, for 20 hours per week to support our property team to keep our facilities in top shape. Whether you are just starting out, returning to the workforce, seeking some part time hours or looking for a career change, we want to hear from you! The hours can be scheduled to suit the right applicant.

Why Work With Us? We believe in supporting our people. We offer a welcoming environment where your hard work is noticed and appreciated.

  • Don’t worry if you don’t have all the skills yet—we’ll show you the ropes and help you build your confidence.
  • We understand that life happens. We offer stable hours and a team that supports one another.
  • Learn valuable trades and maintenance skills that will stay with you for life.

What You’ll Be Doing No two days are the same! You’ll be the "go-to" person for keeping things running smoothly, including:

  • Keeping indoor and outdoor areas tidy and safe.
  • Setting up spaces for events or daily use.
  • Performing routine safety checks and basic landscaping.
  • Mowing, edging, weeding, and seasonal planting to keep our fields and gardens looking top-notch.
  • Ensuring grounds are safe, paths are clear of debris, and conducting regular site safety checks.
  • Helping prep the grounds for sports days, assemblies, and community events.
  • Managing onsite waste, recycling, and basic pest control.
  • Cleaning and maintenance checks of school Vehicles

We are looking for a "can-do" person who fits our school culture. Ideally, you have:

  • Experience with power tools, ride-on mowers, and general building maintenance.
  • You notice the small things — a loose gate latch or a patch of weeds — and fix them before they become big things.
  • You’re happy working independently and managing your own daily schedule.
  • A friendly, professional manner when interacting with staff, students, and contractors.
  • A clean New Zealand driver’s license is essential.

Requirements: In accordance with the Children’s Act 2014, the successful applicant will be required to undergo a satisfactory Vulnerable Children’s Act police vetting check.

About our College:

We are a growing school guided by our values of Manaakitanga, Mana Tangata, Aroha, Auahatanga, and Te Hiringa. We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We are looking for a like-minded, creative, and motivated individual to join our team.
