About the Role This is a physically demanding role where you'll be working in trenches installing and maintaining drainage systems across civil and commercial sites in Auckland. You'll be hands-on every day—digging, laying pipes, backfilling, and ensuring drainage is installed accurately and safely.

Duties
- Digging trenches (hand digging and assisting machinery operators)
- Laying stormwater and wastewater pipes to exact measurements
- Installing manholes, soak pits, sumps, and other drainage structures
- Backfilling and compacting trenches
- Using levels, lasers, and site plans to set out drainage
- Operating hand tools and small machinery
- Working safely inside open trenches and varying ground conditions
- Supporting machine operators and site supervisors as required
Skills and Experience
- Drainlaying experience in civil construction (commercial, subdivisions, or utilities)
- Ability to work in trenches and handle physically demanding tasks
- Experience with pipe laying, trench shoring, and backfilling
- Understanding of levels, grades, and reading site plans
- Registered or experienced drainlayers welcome
- Valid Site Safe (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid working rights in New Zealand
- Full NZ driver's license
- Strong safety mindset and teamwork skills
