Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica, Full Time, On Site, Summer season (Estimated October 2026 - Feb 2027)
This is a full on site deployment. You will live and work on the ice for the duration of the assignment.

About the Role As a Construction Labourer, you will support a wide range of maintenance and construction activities across the station. Work varies daily and may include assisting trades, site preparation, material handling, general labouring, and supporting essential station operations. This is a physically demanding role in extreme conditions, suited to someone who is safety focused, hardworking, and eager for a unique experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with construction, maintenance, and repair tasks across station facilities
- Support trades personnel including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and mechanics
- Perform general labouring duties such as digging, lifting, carrying, and material handling
- Set up and pack down work areas, tools, and equipment
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely
- Assist with snow shovelling, site clearing, and outdoor tasks in extreme cold
- Load, unload, and move materials and equipment
- Participate in community duties such as cleaning, recycling, and general station upkeep
- Support other departments when required
- Perform other duties as directed
Required Qualifications and Experience
- MUST have valid working rights in New Zealand (No sponsorship is available for this role, WHV is acceptable with relevant experience only)
- Successful completion of medical, dental, drug screening, and background checks
- Relevant Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, labouring, or trades support
- Ability to work safely with tools, equipment, and machinery
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour
- Willingness to learn and follow technical instructions
- Valid New Zealand driver licence
